The Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, Lau Wai Meng, attended the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit that was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang. She was also invited as a guest speaker for the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area Internet Development Forum, on the topic of “Innovative Governance, Intelligent Protection”, as well as discussed with guests from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, on how to enhance cybersecurity cooperation and protection capabilities between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao through technological innovation and policy coordination in the context of globalization.

In her speech at the conference, The Director stated that Macao’s current 5G coverage is good. This not only improves the quality of telecommunications, but also promotes the digital transformation of the economy and society. High level of Internet penetration enables citizens and businesses to connect to various digital services more conveniently. Consequently, quality infrastructure, a rigorous legal system, collaborative regional relations and talent development are indispensable components of digital governance, providing a solid foundation for Macao’s digital future. The Director also expressed her sincere gratitude to the Cyberspace Administration of China for its support for Macao's Internet sector and to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Internet Development Forum for providing a good communication platform, together promoting the stable development of the Internet sector.
